Our Waterdown Production greenhouse has an immediate opening for a Head Grower. You will be responsible for supporting the whole growing experience of the modern five acre range. You will take a leadership role in improving and maintaining the growth of the crops by inspiring your team, managing crop quality using biological and chemical crop management. You will work in close collaboration with the Production Manager, the Production Coordinator and other Management teams to positively support TERRA's policies, programs and initiatives.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Advanced horticultural crop knowledge (spring/summer annuals and pot crops) acquired by post secondary education in the horticultural field or 3 years of greenhouse production operations or a combination is mandatory
- Proven understanding of general plant health including chemical and biological applications for pest, disease and plant growth is required
- A valid grower's pesticide certification/license is required
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- An aptitude for MS Office at an intermediate level
- Working knowledge of basic agricultural and greenhouse equipment

WAGE: $ 10.50 - 11.00As a member of our Greenhouse Crop Crew Team you'll be tending to our colourful flower crops for the coming season. You will assist in watering, planting & spacing crops in our state of the art eco friendly Production Greenhouse facility.
In this fast-paced environment, you will be expected to keep a solid pace and demonstrate the highest quality standards to your team paying close attention to detail, working under pressure within tight deadlines. The ability to distinguish between colours is imperative.
You will have the opportunity to apply your horticulture knowledge and maintain the crops, plants and potted plants. You must be able to meet physical requirements including standing for extended periods, perform repetitive hand movements, bending, crouching, kneeling and lift up to 30 lbs.Our facility is open 7 days a week in peak season so you will be required to be available to work weekends and holidays.
